Conway Hall Dedication 2016: “Never in my wildest dreams did I think that my name would be on a building at Salisbury University, my Alma Mater,” said former Maryland Delegate Norman H. Conway at the dedication of Conway Hall on Tuesday, April 26. A crowd of campus and community friends joined his family, local and state legislators, their staff, media and other well-wishers for the heartfelt ceremony. Renaming SU’s Teacher Education and Technology Center was a fitting honor for the former Wicomico county educator who, as House Appropriations Committee Chairman, helped SU secure funding for the 2008 facility and numerous other projects.

Maryland Delegate and Speaker Pro Tem Adrienne Jones said Conway brought the mantra of “One Maryland” to every decision he made, and always prioritized education funding for children across the state above all else. Wicomico County Board of Education President Don Fitzgerald added that Conway, and his wife Jan, have touched many lives. SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach said: “We are forever indebted to you for your leadership, your wisdom, and maybe above all, your character, your integrity.” Conway was presented with a framed photograph of the building that now bears his name before its official sign was unveiled.
