Conservative site RedState takes down op-ed promoting Seth Rich conspiracy theory: Conservative website RedState took down an op-ed on Monday that promoted the conspiracy theory that Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer Seth Rich was killed in 2016 because he was the source of stolen DNC emails published by

Why We Are Quitting RedState – The Bulwark: For more than a decade, RedState was a solid voice in the world of online conservative commentary. Unfortunately, the allure of Trumpism has left the once great site a shell of its former self. In 2015, before the Republican tide shifted to a near-complete acceptance of a politically inexperienced reality star playboy as the post-Obama …

Selling Endorsements? [updated]: I want to thank Ben Smith at the Politico for letting me know about an email that went out from Eagle Publishing, our parent company. I had not seen and did not know about the email.Just to start it off, no, my endorsements are not for sale. I don’t know who the guy is who sent the email, but he certainly did RedState no favors.About two months ago, Hillsdale College approached me to see if I’d be willing to promote their townhall event. I was glad to. The project was a success and we subsequently followed it up with the Heritage Foundation. We’ve been approached by a few others I didn’t much care for and I have declined to help. I guess the sales team decided to take the ball and run with it.A sales guy at Eagle sent out an email, which you can read below the fold, which neither I nor my boss at Eagle saw before it was sent out. It all but says my endorsement is for sale. It is not.The focus of these ad campaigns are for conservative organizations I support and am glad to help, never for candidates or groups I don’t much care for. In fact, a certain Presidential candidate asked me to do one for an ancillary project and wanted me to use the word “endorse,” which I would not do.That’s the situation. With me in Georgia and operations in Washington, I guess something like this was bound to happen eventually. You can read the email below the fold. ***By the way, this is an appropriate time to answer the question of why I have not endorsed a candidate or two you all expect me to endorse and have demanded I endorse. Apparently, one or two candidates I’d like to endorse signed on as sponsors to the RedState Gathering before the sales guys understood that I don’t want candidates to sponsor out of an appearance of impropriety should I endorse them. Consequently, I don’t think I can in good faith endorse candidates who have sponsored the Gathering. I may like them, but the appearance of impropriety would be too much in my mind. I don’t want to mention the candidates, because it is not their fault, but for those of you emailing to have me endorse particular candidates we both like, there’s why I have not and will not.

RedState sells ‘endorsement’ [UPDATED]:

Blog:  The endorsement of Erick Erickson, the founder of the conservative blog RedState and a CNN contributor is for sale as part of an advertising p

Redstate.com bans new Ron Paul supporters: Influential conservative site says it has had enough "pimping Ron Paul," tells "spammers" to go elsewhere.

Laura Ingraham to Erick Erickson: Could You Write An Op-Ed On RedState.com Explaining Why You Prefer Clinton to Trump?: LAURA INGRAHAM: Phyllis Schlaffly and Pat Buchanan combine probably have eighty years, ninety years in the conservative movement, do you find them to be conservative people?

ERICK ERICKSON: Yep.

LAURA INGRAHAM: Okay, so they’re conservative, do you think Jeff Sessions is a conservative?

ERICK ERICKSON: Yep.

LAURA INGRAHAM: Okay, so the three of them together are conservatives, and they have all either endorsed Trump or been very sympathetic to Trump. Correct?

ERICK ERICKSON: Yep.

LAURA INGRAHAM: So why are they right and you’re wrong? Or why are you right and they’re wrong?

ERICK ERICKSON: Well, because I don’t think that Donald Trump is a conservative. In fact, you go on Fox News, and half the people say he is and half say he isn’t.

I don’t think Trump’s a conservative, I’m certainly not going to support him.

LAURA INGRAHAM: So do you think Phyllis [Schlaffley], and [Pat] Buchanan and [Jeff] Sessions, they do know conservatism, do they not?

ERICK ERICKSON: They do know conservativism, but I think they are wrong.

LAURA INGRAHAM: Do you have more experience in fighting conservative battles than in the most critical moments in our modern history, or do they?

ERICK ERICKSON: I think they have a lot more history than me, they’re a lot older than me.

LAURA INGRAHAM: It is not about age, it is about what you have actually done for the conservative movement. And again… I’ve always liked you, I think you’re a wonderful person, and you’re really sharp and I think you’re a great writer… I just want us to win.

ERICK ERICKSON: Trump is not going to win… He’s losing to Hillary in the latest polling…

LAURA INGRAHAM: Could you write an op-ed for your site, or for another site, about why Hillary Clinton will be a better commander in chief than Donald Trump? And would you pen that?

ERICK ERICKSON: I don’t think either of them are good, why do you want to make it binary? We can run another candidate. It is not a binary choice for me…

LAURA INGRAHAM: My point is, Hillary is gonna win… You want to beat Hillary, correct? I do too…

My botty best at summarizing from Wikipedia: redState is an american conservative political blog . prior to 2017, it organized “RedState gatherings”, a convention for conservative activists . co-founder Domenech was hired as a blogger by the washington post Erick Erickson, who had joined RedState in 2006, became editor-in-chief and CEO . on November 16, 2006, former congressman Tom DeLay posted a diary . Erickson announced he would be leaving the site former RedState contributors Caleb Howe and Jay Caruso succeeded Erickson and Leon Wolf . the blog has been criticized by Donald Trump while he was a candidate . During the 2016 presidential election new users may *not* shill for Ron Paul in any way shape, form or fashion . redstate was one of the main centers of conservative opposition to Trump’s campaign . in march 2018, a RedState redState adds an “update” to the story, but does not provide a “correction” the false story was shared widely by conservatives, including Erick Erickson . in April 2018, there were mass firings of staff at RedState, including the managing editor, Caleb Howe . in January 2019, three senior contributors resigned, after they noticed articles critical about president Trump were not promoted redState publishes nude photographs of california politician Katie hill . hill admitted an affair with the campaign staffer, but denied involvement with the house staffer .
