Mondo shtuff from around the internet, all about GAME JOLT!

[Game Jolt] Official Invention Contest – Hosted by NAL [Results Announced!]: Game Jolt is a place chock full of free indie games that are actively maintained by the developers themselves.

Update 3: We’re funded, but it’s not over yet! · Indie Statik: WE DID IT!! Thanks to everyone who has already backed this project, we managed to get our funding with 14 days left to spare. Even though we are so excited by this news, and blown away by the community support, we are pushing to hit our reach goals!Whats next? A FREE ARCADE FOR YOU!In partnership with GameJolt.com, we will be building out an arcade filled with games curated by us to convey the feel of Indie Statik in an online arcade that won’t cost you a penny! In order to do that, we need to pay a developer to build out a slick front end so when you come to visit, the functionality is above par, easy to use, and puts the control of your current and suggested games in your hands! If you haven’t checked out Game Jolt, you really should. They do a fantastic job at making indies accessible to a huge audience and do it in a way that promotes sharing and communication from within the community – players and developers alike! Having the added arcade as an IndieStatik.com site feature means not only one more awesome thing for our viewers to take advantage of, but adds a HUGE level of developer support as we bring them into the fold and feature their games for you to play. This will help grow our community in a wonderfully collaborative way.Down the road? INDIE GAME TRAVEL DOCU-SERIES!I’m immensely excited to have the opportunity to do this!! You can view the teaser for this idea on our campaign page. I took the idea from Anthony Bourdain’s show, No Reservations. He travels around the world to check out different communities and understand how their cultures influence food. I want to do the same but with cultures and video game development. Nothing like this has been attempted and it will be a great opportunity to help put more indie communities on the map! What do we need? MORE COMMUNITY SUPPORT!The outpouring of support so far has been amazing! Every last dollar helps and sharing our campaign does more than you even know. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc, sharing is caring and I can feel how much you guys care about us and the work we do. It’s overwhelming and I am grateful for it every day!So, if you want to see us hit some of these goals and continue putting the indie scene in the spotlight where it belongs, please just share our link. Or if you haven’t backed, you can do that too! Even $5 gets you a reward! And at $25 you get some amazing, EXCLUSIVE games and music! Whatever it is, no matter how big or small, it helps and we appreciate it!From me and everyone working on IndieStatik.com, THANK YOU! <3Regards,Josh the Moustache

My botty best at summarizing from Wikipedia: Game Jolt (GJ) is a hosting service for free and commercial video games with social functions . co-founded by Yaprak and David DeCarmine, the initial site launched on January 1, 2004 . in 2007 Game Jolt started accepting browser-based HTML5 games for upload in February 2013 . developer david decarmine announced on august 8 that he was working full-time on Gamejolt’s development . an online Game Jolt partnered with Felix, Sean “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin and Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach . the requirements for entries were arcade games using the GJAPI highscore Unlike the contests there is no theme- just work on new games or WIPs . developers encouraged to livestream, post screenshots and tweet about whatever they’re developing . no winners are produced at the end .
